Career prospects with Dr. Christin David: Junior Research Leader in Germany
“Career prospects” is a series of talks by IMDEA Nanociencia alumni to give their view of their stay as researchers at IMDEA Nanociencia and their subsequent professional careers, with the objective of providing PhD students a vision for their professional development. The series will be held online in English, and will be open for everyone (no registration required).
Dr. Christin David obtained her degree in Physics in 2009 from the Berlin Institute of Technology, Germany, working on plasmonic enhancement in Raman spectroscopic measurements. Her Ph.D. at Autónoma University Madrid finished in 2014 was performed at CSIC, Madrid, and ICFO, Barcelona, in the theoretical nanophotonics group of Prof. F. Javier García de Abajo on plasmonic nanostructures. She joined Prof. N. Asger Mortensen's at DTU Fotonik, Technical University of Denmark, in 2015 for a research project on plasmonic crystals. In 2017, she arrived at IMDEA continuing her research on optical nanotechnologies in the Scanning Probe Microscopies and Surfaces Research Group with Roberto Otero.
In 2019, she followed an invitation to join the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, Germany, as a Junior Research Group Leader and has since supervised early stage researchers in various areas of nanophotonics, plasmonics and spectroscopy.
