Junqing Shi has received the PhD honorary mention 2017-2018 from the Autonomous University of Madrid in the category “Condensed Matter, Nanoscience and Biophysics”.

Junqing's thesis entitled "Structure-property relationships in photoresponsive molecular materials", directed by Prof. Johannes Gierschner (IMDEA Nanociencia) and by Prof. Begoña Milián (University of Valencia) and supervised by Prof. Rodolfo Miranda (IMDEA Nanociencia and UAM), was defended in January 2018 at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Junqing Shi's research, conducted in the ‘Photophysics of Organic and Hybrid Supramolecular Nanosystems’ group (directed by Prof. Johannes Gierschner) at IMDEA Nanociencia during the years 2013 and 2018, deals with π-conjugated organic materials. These nanomaterials have a special interest not only in the area of materials’ science but also in optoelectronics for their potential practical applications. Specifically, it has focused on the study of the material’s structural factors responsible for its solid state luminescence, "twist-elasticity" and energy conversion efficiency as solar cells. The research provided by Junqing in her thesis is a step further in the advancement of the knowledge on π-conjugated organic materials towards the desired approach of targeted design.

Currently, Junqing Shi is assistant professor at the Flexible Electronics Institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University of Xi’an Shaanxi (China).

Congratulations Junqing!
